Sassicaia - what a name. In 1944, Mario Incisa della Rochetta planted Cabernet Sauvignon grapes near the village of Bolgheri in Tuscany about ten kilometres from the coast. The stony hill called 'Castiglioncello' gave the wine the name Sassicaia (stones = Sassi).

A noble accompaniment to complex meat dishes from the grill or from the pan, to festive meals and highlights from Italian cuisine.

In the glass it is extremely dark, with an already very complex nose that smells of cherries and plums. On the palate there is also a fruity, concentrated structure and, as always with this "Premier Grand Cru" from Italy, it will only show its full size after years, so it still has some potential for development.
