In 1981, Gianni Masciarelli began his passion, wine production, with just under two hectares of land, which he shared with his wife Marina. The winery developed very quickly and today the Masciarelli family owns 400 hectares of land. The grape varieties cultivated are Montepulciano, which accounts for 70% of production, Trebbiano d Abruzzo and Chardonnay. The wine cellar uses barriques from the best French producers for ageing. Every year the winery produces more than 1.5 million bottles of wine and exports them all over the world. Gianni Masciarelli passed away in August 2008, and his wife has been running the business successfully ever since. A first-class hotel, the Castello di Semivicoli , which is also owned by the family, has been located close to the vineyards since 2009.
