Angelo Gaja was born in Alba in 1940 and is now the fourth generation to run the family business. He is one of the most important wine producers in the world and is known for his elegant and opulent wines. In Piedmont, he was a pioneer in the vinification of single vineyards and the subsequent aging of the wines in barriques. He has already succeeded in producing the famous tre bicchieri awards from Gambero Rosso. Since 1996, Angelo Gaja has also planted a good 60 hectares of vineyards in the Maremma . Despite the choice of grape varieties grown worldwide, Gaja does not want to produce wines that adapt to international tastes, but rather those that reflect the local terroir and express elegance, freshness and drinkability! The Ca Marcanda winery in the Maremma impresses with its magnificent architecture, which combines perfectly with the Tuscan landscape. The area offers an excellent climate for the cultivation of international grape varieties.
