The Castanar Riserva represents the challenge to Andrea Ferrari to produce a great red wine using seven different grape varieties - of which Merlot is only represented to a lesser extent. He is of the opinion that Ticino can produce great red wines even without Merlot
With roast duck, goose and wild boar. Also very suitable for quail and pheasant.
