Jacopo Biondi Santi ist ganz sicher einer der klingendsten Namen des italienischen Weinbaus. Nicht nur, weil sein Vorfahr Ferruccio Biondi Santi einst den Sangiovese-Grosso-Klon isolierte, der auch heute noch die Grundlage für den weltweiten Ruhm des Brunello darstellt. - Nein, der Name steht für denkwürdige Weine, für Beständigkeit für Grösse. Diese Werte gelten auch auf Montepò, Santis jüngstem Erwerb nahe der Tyrrhenischen Küste bei Grossetto. Dass auch hier in der Maremma Weine der internationalen Spitzenklasse entstehen können, beweist Santi nun mit seiner aktuellen Kollektion. Dabei setzt er voll und ganz auf die traditionellen, bewährten Methoden wie ausgedehnte Maischestandzeiten, den Einsatz grosser Holzfässer anstelle modernistischer Barriques und auf ausgiebige Flaschenreife.
