Roberto Voerzio is undoubtedly one of the most capable and best Barolo winemakers of the last two decades. In 1987 he left his parents' business and within a very short time managed to rise to the group of the best producers in the Piedmont region. His vineyards, which cover almost 10 hectares, are located in the vicinity of La Morra, in the best and most important individual locations. His wine style is a sensible synthesis of modernity and tradition. The main pillars of his quality philosophy are his consistent pursuit of quality in the vineyard and the radically low yields. The Barolo that I strive for, says the top winemaker, should be complex in aroma and fiery in taste. With each new vintage, Voerzio is among the absolute top Barolo winemakers. This is impressively illustrated by the top ratings close to 100 points that Voerzio regularly receives in very good years. In addition to outstanding Barolos, Voerzio produces excellent wines from the Dolcetto and Barbera grapes.
